About the WEAVERs work

The WEAVERs are engaged as victim survivor co-researchers and lived experience researchers to ensure lived experience is embedded into research and training about family, domestic and sexual violence at the University of Melbourne.

 To date WEAVERs have:

  • Co-designed the research agenda for how to improve health sector responses to family violence

  • Influenced which research projects the university prioritises for funding submissions

  • Co-designed research projects and statewide frameworks

  • Supported the development of stakeholder consultation plans

  • Co-designed and co-facilitated workshops, panels and conference presentations

  • Conducted focus groups and interviews with practitioners and other victim survivors

  • Contributed to the development of training and courses at the University of Melbourne

It is important to note that WEAVER members are never required to share their stories or experiences of abuse or violence with the University research team, other WEAVERs of partner organisations we work with. WEAVERs are engaged as lived experience experts and bring that expertise to research projects.

Our co-design team works with the WEAVERs in a way consistent with the principles outlined in the Framework we developed together. Click above to find out more and to download the Framework.
