Jasmine
I remember
Today I remembered you.
I remembered our family.
I remembered our dreams.
I remembered how we sang together.
I remembered our first kiss.
I remember the butterflies in my stomach when you touched me - that I’ve felt with no-one else.
I remember when you moved in.
I remember the ring and what it meant for us.
I remembered how our daughter’s face lit up when you played peek-a-boo.
I remembered when we went to the zoo.
I remembered our daughter’s wonder as we walked through the butterflies. I remember both of your faces, filled with wonder.
I remember how you let her ride on your back, pretending to be a horse.
I remember how you dressed up to be the easter bunny to bring her joy.
I remembered how she fell asleep in your arms - as you lay on the couch watching a show.
I remembered how you held me to sleep.
I remember not doing everything on my own.
I remember not feeling lonely.
I remember not feeling so financially stretched.
And then I remember the gun.
And then I remember the hands around my neck.
I remember our daughter scared.
I remember the police.
And I remember that we’re better off without you.
Thank you to the amazing WEAVERS who created these words and artwork.
