Migrant and refugee women experiencing family, domestic and sexual violence
Harmony
A cluster randomised controlled trial of a whole of general practice intervention to prevent and reduce domestic violence among migrant and refugee communities
What’s this project about?
Harmony is based on a cluster randomised controlled trial that aims to test the feasibility and effectiveness of a whole-of GP clinic intervention to improve the capacity of primary care clinicians (GPs, nurses and others) to enquire about family violence, provide first line support, and offer confidential referral to biligual caseworker support for culturally diverse women patients.
Adapted from the UK model, IRIS (Feder 2006), and also with lessons from the WEAVE and Mosaic trials, Harmony has been trialed across multiple general practice sites in regions of high South Asian immigrant population in Melbourne's north west and south east suburbs. This study improves GP responses to family violence among migrant and refugee communities.

CCFV model
A Systematic Review of Culturally Competent FV Responses to Women in Primary Care
What’s this project about?
The Culturally Competent Family Violence (CCFV) response model is an evidence-based model recommended by a systematic review. A systematic review of 44 studies and grey literature identified practises that demonstrate CCFV responses from the perspective of primary care providers and women of minority ethnic/racial backgrounds.
The model recommended four individual-level actions and seven whole-of-practice-level actions. These actions guide care design and delivery that promotes a culturally safe primary care environment for women of diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds experiencing family.
